Antarctic Heritage Trust has chosen four persons for a trip to Antarctica Penninsula and William Pike is one such who would be travelling to Antarctica soon.

The important thing to note here is this William Pike is not a normal person like the other three who were chosen along with him. It is sad to hear that in the year 2007 this William Pike lost his leg when he was on the Mountain Ruapehu and this mountain erupted suddenly and shocked many there.

He lost his leg because mud, debris and water pinned him down and crushed his right leg. He was helped by his friend and was taken to hospital and he even had as many as 15 surgeries done on him and finally his right leg was amputated. At this stage when most of us would have lost hope and interest to live but not this William Pike.

A youth development programme titled “William Pike Challenge Award’’ started by him is sensational now days and is helping many students to involve themselves in many outdoor activities plus service to others. It is remarkable that he is now highly sought after motivational speaker.

It is now revealed that William Pike along with three others would be going to Antarctic Peninsula by means of ship from Argentina. It is also said that the group would go down the peninsula till Mt Scott and then they would climb.

As per William Pike climbing this mountain would be a huge task as the mountain is heavily glaciated. He also spoke about how climbing with artificial leg would be very tough and how he is ready for the challenge. Sensational William Pike!!
